Our Wellness Area

Unique Experiences

Immerse yourself in the wellness world of Sárkányfürdő!

In the wellness area of Sárkányfürdő, we offer a unique experience for sauna lovers. Indoors, guests will find two Finnish saunas, an infrared sauna, a steam bath, a salt generator, a salt cabin, and two plunge pools. Sauna bathing provides an opportunity to relax and refresh both body and mind.

Sauna bathing offers numerous health benefits. It stimulates blood circulation, promotes cell regeneration, strengthens the immune system, and increases the body's resistance. Heat visibly rejuvenates the skin, making it smooth and elastic. Through sweating, toxins are expelled from the body, and it is an excellent method for relieving muscle soreness. The warm air not only relaxes but also stimulates the release of endorphins — the body’s natural “happiness hormones.” It is extremely effective in reducing stress.

Sauna experience

Finnish sauna

The Finnish sauna is the most common type of sauna, with a temperature of 80–100 °C and low humidity (only 10–30%). Using it properly requires time — not just for the sauna sessions themselves, but also for the essential rest periods in between. A complete, relaxing sauna experience typically consists of 3–4 rounds and takes about an hour and a half. Before entering the sauna, it is important to shower thoroughly to remove sweat, lotions, and deodorant residues from the skin. Drying off carefully is also essential, as water on the skin's surface can interfere with sweating and evaporation. Our saunas feature benches at different levels: the lower benches are cooler, while the upper ones can get significantly hotter — allowing guests to choose their preferred temperature. Pouring water over the sauna stones releases hot steam, which makes the air feel warmer, even though the temperature stays the same. This increased heat sensation boosts perspiration. The experience becomes even more enjoyable with the use of essential oils added to the water.

Sauna experience

Infrared sauna

The infrared sauna emits infrared rays in the invisible light spectrum. The skin is gently and evenly warmed, causing the pores to dilate. These rays penetrate uniformly through the skin layer richly supplied with blood vessels, reaching a depth of about 4 cm. There, they convert into heat energy and quickly spread throughout the body via the bloodstream, creating a pleasant warming sensation. This warming effect accelerates blood circulation, which has beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. Metabolism is boosted, and as the elimination processes speed up, detoxification accelerates, reducing excessive acidity, activating the immune system, and increasing our body’s natural defense and self-healing powers.

Steam world

Steam bath

For those who find the Finnish sauna temperature too high, relaxation is also possible in the steam bath, where the temperature is lower — around 43 °C — but the humidity is much higher (100%), ensuring sweating here as well. Since the body heats up gradually, it does not strain the system, making it recommended even for those with circulatory issues.

Breathe in the purity!

Salt cabin

Allergic diseases are considered widespread health issues today. Forecasts predict a significant increase in the number of people affected in the next 10 years. Even medically less severe conditions, such as hay fever, can seriously impact the quality of life for those living with it. The disease may worsen, potentially developing into asthma, which can adversely affect not only quality of life but also life expectancy. The incidence of dermatological allergic diseases is also on the rise.

There is a growing demand for natural remedies and complementary options in the treatment of allergic diseases. This includes an increased interest in the clean air of salt caves. However, accessing natural salt caves involves physical and time constraints. Not everyone can descend into the original underground mines, so salt caves are brought closer to patients: natural rock salt replicating the climate of the caves, available in an installable form.

By harnessing the harmonizing power of the salt cave, we can reduce the amount of medication needed and minimize both short- and long-term side effects. This benefit is even more pronounced in children, whose “clean” bodies respond more favorably to natural remedies than those of adults.

Breathe in the purity!

Salt generator

The salt generator grinds salt into particles a few microns in size and disperses them into the room’s air with the help of a fan. This creates a microclimate nearly identical to that of natural salt mines. Participants of salt therapy inhale tiny salt particles attached to the air molecules, which dissolve upon reaching the mucous membranes and exert anti-inflammatory effects. The inhaled salty air reaches even the smallest bronchioles. Breathing in salt dust is suitable for all age groups and can help treat and prevent respiratory problems, infections, asthma, acute inflammation of the nasal cavity, throat and ears, as well as allergies. The therapy is available without age restrictions.

Hot and cold experience

Contrast bath (Kneipp therapy)

The cold and warm baths are located side by side. Their alternating effect causes blood vessels to constrict and dilate, making it an excellent circulation booster. The cold bath also serves as the plunge pool for the saunas.

Stress relief

Refreshing massage

One of the oldest stress relief methods, its goal is to loosen tense muscles in the body. It improves blood circulation and restores the elasticity of the skin and muscles. Because of its muscle-relaxing effects, it is one of the most popular relaxation techniques.
